WHAT IS SWYM?
South West Youth Ministries is a youth ministry that places trainee youth and schools workers with ministry partners (churches and schools-work projects) throughout the South West of England.
In practice, SWYM seeks to promote local churches in the South West and bring them together in an informal association that works together to be as strategic and effective as possible in Christian schools-work and youth ministry. For the people who serve within SWYM it is more like a group of friends who share a passion for Jesus Christ, a desire to learn, and a hunger to seek and save the lost.
SWYM is run by a Leadership Team and overseen by a Board. The Leadership Team are each responsible for different parts of the work, such as, recruitment, training, administration, international relations, supporters, camps and mission. Area Co-ordinators are the most important part of this team, and are responsible for looking after the SWYM Trainees and Ministry Partners in their area of the South West. Our Board members come from a variety of backgrounds including education, commerce, and ministry, and provide overall direction and guidance in the running of SWYM.
