- New Contracts Passed by the Legislature and Governor!
On May 2, 2006, with only a few days to spare before the legislature goes out of session for the rest of the year, our new contracts were approved by the Assembly in a late-night vote. The vote counts were 90 in favor and 6 opposed for the 2003-05 contract, and 87 in favor and 9 opposed for the 2005-07 contract. The voting pattern was strikingly consistent for almost all of the other state employee contracts approved during Tuesday night's session.
Governor Doyle is scheduled to sign the new contracts into law at a ceremony at the Capitol on Friday, May 5, completing the approval process and clearing the way for long overdue back pay and pay raises!
