- Lewis C. Solmon is president of the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET), a public charity focusing on improving teacher quality in America, and senior advisor and member of the board of trustees of the Milken Family Foundation. From 1997 to 2005, he served as senior vice president, then executive vice president, education at the Milken Family Foundation. He was the founding president of the Milken Institute from 1991 to 1997, which he built into a nationally recognized economics think tank.
