Established in the 1950s, TBS Publishers Distributors continues to be the favourite resort of every Kerala resident and visiting malayalam literary devotee. The bookshop is virtually a Malayalam literature minefield, where a customer can track the books he seeks.
"Touring Bookstall", which later emerged as "TBS PUBLISHERS DISTRIBUTORS" has a very fascinating background in Kerala. Initiated by Mr. N.E Balakrishna Marar over 52 years ago, he used to reach books and periodicals, on cycle to the readers. Till then, customers who required books went to bookshops. Mr. Marar inversed the process and books were reached to the readers at their place.
This customer friendly service was introduced at Calicut,Kerala when such a thing was actually unheard of. This approach soon gained tremendous appreciation. TBS has the same enthusiasm for customer service even today, but driven by innovative ideas to suit the changing trends. "TBS" today has grown to be one of the largest bookstore and distributors in India. And now within the past half a century,TBS has transferred from a period where we use to search for books readers in homes, offices, and schools to a period where people now come to the thresholds of the multi-storied building for books.
