Description
In 1973, a group of visionary people believed that access to natural and healthy foods was a necessity. They formed a small cooperative warehouse – one of many that were starting throughout the United States. With five founding members, the People’s Warehouse was born. Within a year, the small warehouse was incorporated as Tucson Cooperative Warehouse (TCW). Volunteers packed product and drove a single truck with organic and natural grains, juices and other bulk items to the owners. Cooperative retails and buying clubs grew and the product line expanded.
As the years passed, TCW outgrew its warehouse space on Factory Avenue and moved to its current location near downtown Tucson. The new 45,000 square foot warehouse was filled with more than 7,000 products; from frozen salmon, to vitamins, from baby care products to organic millet. Today our membership is comprised of thousands of individuals who receive deliveries on our truck routes, shop our on-site store, or order products on-line at ShopNatural.com.
Today, our new name is ShopNatural Cooperative – a name that reflects the essence of our business. Through all our changes, we have always abided by the Cooperative Principles and Values and worked for the individuals and groups that support this business.
