- Telco Credit Union of Asheville was chartered in 1935 to serve primarily telephone employees assigned to the Asheville area. The Credit Union's charter was amended in the 1990's to include Select Employee Groups across the state. In 1996 we changed our name to Telco Credit Union & Affiliates to be more representative of our expanding field of membership. Now, in our continuing effort to effectively serve a growing credit union family, we have acquired a Community Charter allowing anyone in Buncombe, Burke, Catawba, Caldwell or Henderson county to apply for credit union membership.
