About the Film
Jon S. Henricks and David Pawsey worked together under the ‘Raw Nerve’ initiative offered by QPIX to Queensland filmmakers, to develop the Tender script through its many revisions.
David approached friend and colleague Liz Tomkins to produce the short film. David and Liz met working on K9, a children’s TV series based on Dr Who’s pet robotic dog ‘K9’, and resolved to work together on further projects. After reading the Tender script, Liz was convinced of its potential and immediately set to work on putting together the film.
Next to come on board was television commercial Director Jonas McQuiggin of boutique production house Two Little Indians. His technical skill and eye for composition combined with use of state-of-the-art equipment created the unique look of Tender.
It was clear from the audition process that no one could bring Frank to life as beautifully as stage actor Mark Conaghan. Mark drew on his years of acting experience working with industry heavyweights, such as seasoned Hollywood Director Mike Nichols (The Graduate, Catch 22), to create a well-rounded and believable portrayal of his character.
The film was supported by many of Brisbane’s finest crew members leading highly skilled technical and creative departments.
