The Texas Maritime Museum is the official maritime museum of Texas per the Texas Legislature. Doors opened in 1989 with a mission to tell the story of Texas' rich maritime history through artifacts and education. We tell the story of early exploration through our LaBelle artifacts; shipbuilding through an exhibit focusing specifically on the wartime construction along the coast. Additionally, we focus on oil and gas exploration and fishing through interactive exhibits and artifacts. The Texas Maritime Museum also features outdoor exhibits including an observation deck on our "lighthouse" and the ONLY Texas Scow Sloop in existence, La Tortuga. Come SEA for yourself!!
