Description
More than 60% of staff work directly with offenders. This includes work in six prisons, five hostels, 12 Magistrates' Courts and three Crown Courts and our 12 main office locations.
The National Probation Service is part of the Government's Home Office. The Home Secretary, The Rt. Hon. Charles Clarke MP, heads this.
Thames Valley Probation Board oversees the work of Thames Valley Area and is answerable to the Home Secretary on performance matters.
