- The Tharlam Monastery in Nepal presently provides residence to over 90 monks along with one elder nun in the nearby labrang (lama's residence). Half of these monks are young in age and are still undergoing formal monastic training. The nun is the Venerable Ane Chime Dolma la, the younger sister of H.E. Dezhung Rinpoche III, founder of Tharlam Monastery. The monks range from ages 3 to 65 with the average age being about 25 years old.
