ASC - What we are about and what we stand for
The Association of Speakers Clubs is a confederation of a little under 150 speaking clubs. We are the largest organisation within the UK promoting the skills of public speaking. Our purpose is to liberate latent energy, talent and potential. We do this for our members and society in general in a surprisingly powerful way. Our ethos is one of success through support and service.
Our supporters are many and include national figures, government bodies and many commercial bodies. However our best supporters and stakeholders are our members.
Relevance of Public Speaking
In the age of TV, sound bites and visually delivered information, the relevance of public speaking has been called into question. At first the logic seems compelling. Why have lectures if lecture notes can be downloaded from the Web? We get most of our news and information from TV, radio and the Internet. So is public speaking important.
