Additional Information

TheBoardWars.com and TheBoardWars.net (also referred to as simply TheBoardWars or TBW) is a site for people to play textbased roleplaying games through posts in a forum.

Does it cost anything to register and play at TheBoardWars? No, we're a free community.

What is Board Wars and how does it differ from roleplaying around the table at home? Board wars differs somewhat from traditional roleplaying games, since board wars generally doesn't use rulesets. The games are more free and doesn't require much or any prior knowledge about roleplaying. However, this is not the only type of games we offer.

Can I play more traditional roleplaying games, like d20, on TheBoardWars as well? Yes, that's what we're here for; letting you decide how you want to play. You make up your own rules and decide wheter to use a ruleset such as d20 or not.

Are the games turnbased or not? As explained in the previous question; you decide how you want to play. You may choose yourself as GM wether to play turnbased or not.

How does TheBoardWars differ from other sites with similar types of games? In most other forums, these games are just a small part of the entire site, on TheBoardWars however, they are the site. Instead of giving people a single thread for their roleplaying game, TBW grants everyone* who wishes their own forum for their game. This makes it possible for the players to separate IC, OOC, character sheets and so on in different threads. This makes a much more rewarding gaming experience.

Are there more benefits from the system TheBoardWars works from? Yes, the GM or Game Master will have more control over his/her game than on most other sites. The GM will recieve so-called Moderator Privileges over his/her forum. This means that the GM will have to capability to edit and delete posts, close threads and make ´stickies/Announcements. This will help avoid that games get out of hand. For instance, if a player decides to go rampage and kill all other players then refuses to edit his posts, the GM could change this.

*If a game has too weak of a story and/or there is a lack of interest in it, an admin may refuse to set up a forum for this game and refer to the "Tryout Thread" instead. If the game grows well it may be moved to it's own forum later.
