- I love the taste of cloves, in fact it is one of my favorite flavors. As a child I would thrill when the annual supply of Adam’s clove gum would appear in the stores, along with the Beeman’s, but I never, ever chewed the Blackjack. Back then they only made it once a year and it would always arrive just as the leaves were turning colors and pumpkins would start appearing on doorsteps. It is one of the quintessential reminders of autumn and my childhood. It’s now available year round, but I clearly remember the days when I would buy boxes of the clove gum and parcel it out for months. It would get crisp and break apart after a couple months, but it wouldn’t stop me. I loved it.
