Many untrained practitioners are performing Aesthetic Surgery procedures without acquiring proper knowledge, depth and level of experience that this discipline deserves. Aesthetic Surgery is not a discipline you can tag on to another as it has grown so much in the last decade. Training seminars, hands-on courses, workshops and conferences are so inconsistent and do not represent a comprehensive formal training. So the time has come create a specialty board that can set the standards. AAAMS serves to set those standards to establish reconstructive and aesthetic surgery and medicine as a separate specialty in the world of medicine.
