BTS The British Toxicology Society
Description
The British Society of Toxicology (BTS) has its origins in the British Toxicology Club founded in 1971. The BTS was then established as a limited not-for-profit company registered in the UK. The membership of the Society now comprises around 950 individuals drawn from industry, academic institutions and regulatory authorities, and also includes student members. Though the majority of members are from the UK, a significant number are based overseas.
Toxicology is the science of disease induced by chemicals present in the diet, medicines, the environment and the workplace. The British Toxicology Society (BTS) will be a leading international toxicology society, based on the highest quality science and will promote the advancement, communication and understanding of those scientific disciplines necessary to foster public health and environmental safety.
The following strategic goals have been selected bearing in mind that the British Toxicology Society should be forward looking and reflect the ambitions of professional toxicologists and toxicological scientists.
