Thermal Arc, headquartered in Troy, OH, is Thermadyne's arc welding business unit providing an extensive array of welding power source products and related equipment and accessories. The Thermal Arc brand was established in 1994 and initially offered a limited number of portable, inverter type power sources. Thermal's inverter line gained quick acceptance as state-of-the-art welding technology and provided a foundation for future expansion. The brand's product line grew rapidly, and extensively, following Thermadyne's acquisition of the Arcsys and GenSet companies quickly catapulting Thermal Arc to the third largest manufacturer of arc welding products in the U.S.A.

The extensive product line now includes an expanding range of inverter welders, traditional transformer type arc welders, engine driven welding generators (including the industry renowned "Predator" system), Synerweld® plasma arc welding systems, and a full line of welding consumables.

Power outputs across Thermal Arc's product line range from 5 amp mini-welders to 600 amp industrial workhorses and cover virtually all welding processes.
