Thompson Homes Ltd. provides residential services for older adults (50 years and older) with mental challenges and respite services for their relatives.
Thompson Homes currently has four homes (with two more opening soon) in Dayton, Ohio, each providing services in a small, intimate, home setting. All homes are ranch-style, and thus fully accessible. Services include everything that a person requires in a home. All Thompson Homes facilities are smoke free, offer 24 hour care, and are diagnostic agnostic. These services are certified and licensed by the State of Ohio.

What is Respite Care?
When a family needs a break, that's where respite care comes in. When the family of a person who is physically or mentally challenged needs a break, either planned or emergency, they can turn to Thompson Homes for assistance. In the ideal case, the family is able to plan ahead for a vacation, a business trip, a church outing, and make advance arrangements to have their loved on stay with Thompson Homes during their time away, for times as short as one day without any overnight stay. Adults of all ages can be accommodated.

If the person needing care is ambulatory, then respite services are simply residential care, including meals and transportation. If the person is non-ambulatory, then services include lifting, bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, etc.
If medical services are necessary, Thompson homes will transport your loved one to the hospital or doctor. If the person has a nurse coming in to provide services at home, that nurse could also come to Thompson Homes instead. Following a medical plan, most health-related services that do not require a nurse can be provided (tube feedings, wound care, medication, etc.). Details provided in an intake interview.

La'Fawn Dunbar is an Ohio Licensed Social Worker (LSW) who has been in the residential care business for 33 years. Ms. Dunbar's family comes from Ohio, which made it natural for her to attend
Ohio Dominican College for her BA after living in Virginia and Buffalo, NY in her early years.
Payment Types
