Thoughts On Messaging
Goals
To create a set of common messaging pages which can be used to describe our vision, help and usage guidelines to the public at large
Process
- Redo the messaging bar to reflect the Six messaging areas
- Inventory all of the messaging pages and sort them into the Six messaging areas. I can imaging that some pages will fall into more than one category, but for the most part they should be distinct. We can do this excercise right on the site, in fact, we can just accumulate them on the correct pages once the messaging bar has been replaced on the main page.
- Eliminate duplicates by combining pages that cover the same topic
- Review The case for case. We should be consistent and if no one objects, I think Sentence case would work well.
- Name each page carefully so that names are clear and short as possible
- Transclude the "Messaging Bar" onto the top of all of these pages
- Interview various people for their thoughts on these topics
- Re-write the pages so they are clear and consistent
- Identify missing pages
- Richly interlink the pages so it is very easy to get around
- Make the formatting consistent
