It was a natural outcome of the Brochure project to create a Web Site featuring the same advertisers as sponsors; thus, the first version of DotNet went live in early 2000 as one of the first community web sites in Hampshire.
The original intention was to create a 'portal' by which people could reach other web sites in the village. However, it has turned into a mixture of news items, event coverage and business directory, with lots of add-ons (see below). Still, three years later, only the Bonfire Boys, St Peter's Church and the Bowling Club have managed to develop credible sites of their own that contribute to the overall village view. Better links with these sites are slowly being established as the realisation dawns that the Web actually works best as a collaborative medium.
