Tarbiat Moallem University
Description
The present administrative and academic structure of the university is illustrated in the Organizational Chart below which will be followed by a brief description of the main decision-making bodies of the university.
The university’s central branch is located at the city center (49 Shahid Mofatteh Avenue). The main building of the university was originally constructed as a boys’ boarding school for Tarbiat Moaalem Center in 1924 and was put into operation in 1925. In 1962, the then Ministry of Culture dissolved the country’s forty-two teacher training centers, and the building turned into the main campus of Tarbiat Moaalem College, which was legally made independent in 1963.The new campus of the university is located in Karaj on the outskirt of Tehran. It was inaugurated in 1986. This campus has been expanded gradually and is now considered the largest university undergraduate campus in Iran. The old campus is used exclusively for graduate/postgraduate courses.
The history of Tarbiat Moaalem University goes back to some 80 years ago when it was initially founded, in 1919, as the Central Teachers Institute. The objective of this institute was to train teachers for primary schools. read more...
