Top Sites of America Web Sites List for Best in USA voting! Only child-safe web sites based in USA are invited to join this free ranked top sites list designed to send your web site targeted traffic! (All voting is reset monthly.)

This is a long-planned national USA Top Site List with sub-rankings for all 50 States, launched at the same time as American Banner Exchange. It is patterned after the highly successful Top North and South Carolina Web Sites List, which ties in with Carolina Banner Exchange.

The original goal, to recruit a top web site from all 50 States and create 50 new Statewide RSS Feeds for all 50 States in only 50 days, was achieved in 49 days! Averaging 1 new high quality web site (from a new State) signing up every day was an almost unrealistic challenge, but trying to accomplish that goal did result in rapid growth. Alexa first ranked this site at 4.4 million, but that number dropped 50% within 30 days and it now ranks around 200,000. It had about 5 Million Total Page Views its first year online! UPDATE: Early in 2008, The Top Sites of America Web Sites List was voted by Topsite List Enthusiasts as The "2007 TOPSITE OF THE YEAR", out of an estimated 100,000+ similar sites worldwide. A :30 radio commercial (Hear the MP3 at the site!) about this nice honor is now running on radio stations.

Additional Information

Compared to most topsite lists, The Top Sites of America does things differently to achieve a higher quality.

1. First, ONLY sites based (not hosted) in USA will be allowed to join!

2. Only family-friendly (kid-safe) web sites are invited to participate with us. (We have Church site members.)

3. You should have a standard-size 468x60 banner ad ALREADY ONLINE and have URL to its location handy when completing our application form. We suggest you view it in a browser to check size and copy that URL!

4. Your site description is limited to 255 characters. It helps to have it prepared in advance to make sure no phrase or words get chopped off.

5. Our application form will check if your banner ad is larger than 468x60 and IS found where you indicated (Banner URL = Image file location - NOT page it is on!). IF banner is too big or missing at URL, form will fail!

6. When application form is done, required cut and paste HTML code fragment (to put somewhere on your site) is shown on your screen. Copy this code and add it to a web page. Then upload (publish) it to server. (Voting code is also sent to email address in form too!) Your 88x31 voting button now shows automatically!

We STRONGLY suggest adding it somewhere on your site's home page, so you get the most votes you can. The more votes you get, the higher on the list your site goes and, as a result, the more traffic you'll get back! Adding your voting button to a side column or footer, so it shows on all pages, can give you an extra advantage!

IF you only put your voting button on a rarely-visited links, awards or other page, you will NOT get many votes and will end up buried at the bottom. That's like being listed on page 5 or 6 in search engine result pages. Most people do NOT go down that far and will visit another site instead. But, we leave this choice up to you!

7. We WILL check to see if your voting button is installed, BEFORE we approve your site! If you DON'T want to add a voting button somewhere on your site, don't waste your time (or ours) filling out the application form.

8. Once your button is in place, feel free to ask your friends, family (and co-workers if you want) to vote for your site. But, only 1 vote per person, per day will actually be counted! Our site has a robust anti-cheat protection system built in, but cheating is not tolerated. If your voting button is removed, your site will also be removed!

9. Every approved site gets featured at the top of every page (chosen at random) with a text link, banner ad link and your full description shown! Each site also has a Statistics page created for it with 1-5 star ratings, reviews (No negative reviews!), detailed traffic in/out stats, screen shot of home page (also linked to your site!), latest 1-10 Google Page Rank and more! All of this data is also included in State rankings and RSS feeds too.

10. If your site gets enough votes to be ranked among the Top 10, your site will remain featured on OUR home page with your banner ad shown and it will get included in an extra RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feed. (Gold, Silver + Bronze trophies recently added for sites ranked #1-3.)

If your site gets enough votes to be on the FIRST page (among Top 25), the button seen on YOUR web site changes to dynamically show rank #! There are actually 26 different ranking buttons that may appear there. (25 buttons have number 1 to 25 on them and generic one for sites 26+.)

NOTE: These 1-25 ranking buttons will not always show the current rank of your site due to a 12-hour server cache to reduce server resources. This also helps you to see where you were before, although there is also a green arrow to show sites moving up or red arrow for sites going down. When you cast a vote, however, your new total is shown instantly and it will go up on list if the extra vote is enough to move you up a notch!

CONCLUSION: All of this may sound a bit complicated at first, but it's all done automatic once you add your voting code and site is approved. It's fun to participate, brings in LOTS of targeted traffic and even helps your site's rankings due to site designed with ALL Google-Friendly links and 500+ total pages - all including 100% validated XHTML coding. Your site may not the best in the USA, but there are 1-25 rankings for all 50 States as well! Obviously, it's easier to be ranked #1 in your own State than the entire USA. We expanded to include up to 200 sites!
