Tour of Italy for the Financially Challenged - Photo Travel in Italy

The creators of this web site are affiliated with the U.S. military. Therefore, we have the opportunity to travel to far off lands. This time around Italy was on the short list of destinations. (However, we must make it clear that this site is in no way connected to the U.S. Military (or any other branch of the U.S. Government for that matter.))
Before leaving the U.S. we searched the web in a vain attempt to find information and imagery of Italy. There were a few pictures, but they were mostly ads for hotels that wanted to separate us from our money. We found a copious amount of "tourist" information, but not much substance. That lack of good pictures and information inspired us to create this site.
The project commenced shortly after our arrival in Italy. The first pictures (of the volcano Solfatara) were taken in December of 1998. The project will be ongoing until our military tour of duty is completed. We expect that will be in the spring of 2002. We will be adding to this site regularly until that time.

The Tour of Italy for the Financially challenged, touritaly.org, has evolved into a free online tourist guide. The site continues to grow by adding tourist resources such as an Italian/English translation Dictionary([1]), consolidated tourist weather information([2]), interactive maps, and new destinations.
