The Ministry of Tourism operates as a commercial entity. One of its main goals is to augment the country’s economy. Its achievements are measured in economical terms such as: the Ministry’s contribution to the Gross National Product; its contribution to the balance of payments; the increase in investment in the field of tourism and the industry’s contribution to employment and the labor force.
The Ministry develops the tourism infrastructure with the help of regional and national development companies. It also assists in establishing tourism business initiatives (tourist attractions, hotels, etc.) throughout the country. This is made possible by government grants as per the Encouragement of Capital Investments Law and according to the regulations of the Israel Investment Promotion Center.
