Inspired by Toronto Bloggers’ recent call for community comments on the TTC ’s website, and new TTC Chair Adam Giambrone’s receptivity to this approach, a core group of the Toronto BarCamp community gathered to brainstorm ways to better “The Better Way” and to increase the Commission’s engagement with its passionate community of users (see a comprehensive summary of this session on the Radiant Core blog). Conversation quickly moved to related community-driven creative work such as Spacing’s TTC station buttons, Torontoist’s user-created t-shirt designs, transit systems design and experience, music, and culture built around the TTC . We felt that our talents and experience at organizing similar events, together with the passionate readers and editors from Reading Toronto, Spacing, blogTO, Torontoist, Transit Toronto, and our city’s transit and tech geeks, creates an opportunity to help the TTC rethink the role of their website and the benefits available to the Commission by tapping the amazing creative energy and passion in the community.
