Description
Background: Treasured Tapestries was officially in business from April, 1999 until 2004 - because of several major events in my life, I decided to stop publishing and marketing my designs. Artwork, all types of needlework, sewing & crafts have been a part of my life for over 25 years. My mother and grandmothers taught me many kinds of needlework and it was not uncommon to see my mom and sister and I stitching away as we watched TV or just visited with each other.
How Designs Progress: Most designs begin with a pencil or pen & ink sketch, which is transferred to a computer program for charting of the design. This is where the sketch comes alive with color through the use of fine fabrics, embroidery floss, specialty threads, and beads, etc.
After the design is charted, or sometimes before (since I just can't wait), the stitching begins. Seeing the design take shape with fabric, threads, and adornments is most rewarding. As I work, I often make changes until the design is just right. Therefore, I am kept busy updating the computer chart and stitching at the same time. Next, comes framing, website building, and all the details (which is a constant learning process).
