Title

Tri-Star - Construction, Renovation, Housing

Description

Tri-Star was established in 1979 to provide a service for the repair, renovation and / or restoration of buildings. In February 1997, the company was purchased by Bill McNeil and Derek Wheals, who remain its major shareholders. Tri-Star Projects (Pty) Ltd Activities soon extended to include construction and building alterations / refurbishments. Prompted by the acquisition of a cluster-home development company's full portfolio of projects in 1999, Tri-Star Developments (Pty) Ltd was established. This division's main focus was to be on the construction of "multi-unit" homes. In early 2000, the renovation arm, Tri-Star Building Maintenance cc was transformed into Tri-Star Abakhi Abathathu (Pty) Ltd, with the empowerment of previously disadvantaged communities as its fundamental founding principle, Abakhi Abathathu's current shareholding of 50% black, previously disadvantaged individuals reflects its successful transition in this regard.

Tri-Star has clearly established itself as a highly successful construction and renovations concern, and a dominant player in the industry. The South African commercial, industrial and residential property market has faced a difficult macro-economic climate of late, yet despite such hostile trading conditions in the construction and building arena, Tri-Star has achieved a remarkable growth rate. This phenomenal achievement can be ascribed to a "hard work" company ethic and a team of dedicated professionals.

Tri-Star strives to meet individualised client needs through the provision of a flexible, quality and cost effective service that fosters the "team approach". Sub-contractors to Tri-Star are required to exhibit a similar work ethic as well as a proven track-record in the industry. The company's efficient time and information management systems also assist in ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on time. Cognisant that the successful realisation of these ideals relies on the efforts of a dedicated workforce, Tri-Star strives to reward valuable contributions by its employees with security, job satisfaction, growth opportunities and an improved quality of life. Tri-Star pledges to uphold the objectives of its Equity Plan and to continue improving the skills of its employees so as to enable promotion within the group structure. It is believed that these actions will contribute favourably to the improved quality of delivery onsite and the enhanced loyalty of its staff.
