A Brief History of CheapTickets
It all began in 1986 on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. An airline was unable to pay an ad agency for its services, offering a number of discounted airline tickets in lieu of cash. The owner of the ad agency put a notice in the daily newspaper promoting "Discounted cheap tickets for sale" and a few calls later, the tickets were sold. Realizing he was onto something, he asked the airline to give him more tickets at a discounted rate...and shortly thereafter CheapTickets was born, with operations initially handled out of a kiosk and then a call center. Today, CheapTickets.com accounts for over 8 million unique online visitors each month with 27 million registered users.
