TRUTHSETSFREE.NET: Gay Christian Ministry- Bible and Homosexuality?

Description

TruthSetsFree.net is an inclusive, ecumenical Christian outreach to GLBTQ Christians, friends, and family. Our ministry emerged from the publication of TruthSetsFree.net founder Justin R. Cannon’s booklet The Bible, Christianity, and Homosexuality, described by the Los Angeles Times as "an illuminating…analysis that argues the Bible doesn't condemn faithful gay relationships." (Michael McGough, July 18, 2005). Accordingly, we believe and affirm that there is a place for people of all sexual orientations in Christ’s Church.

In 2002 , Justin began his own personal quest for knowledge in what is representative of a growing number of gay Christians seeking to know what the Bible says about homosexuality. What he discovered through in-depth Bible study began his personal journey out of the shadows of self-hate and lies, and resulted in the publication of his own study “The Bible, Christianity, & Homosexuality " and eventually the founding of TruthSetsFree.net in the spring of 2005. Justin embraces a very ecumenical perspective that recognizes a deep sense of unity among all Christians that transcends the walls of denominations. He is a graduate of Earlham College in Richmond, IN and plans to attend the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (http://www.cdsp.edu) in Fall, 2006 to pursue priesthood in the Episcopal Church.

N ancy and Richard have been actively involved in the faith community since they first met in an Episcopal intentional community in Detroit's inner city thirty years ago. As lay leaders, Richard was head of a non-profit housing corporation and Nancy served as the associate pastor. In more recent years they have pursued their love for art and music. Being the first ones Justin came out to, Nancy and Richard have walked with Justin through his journey, and have dealt with the many questions and concerns that most parents of GLBTQ children face. They want to make themselves available to others who may be struggling or in need of support. Episcopal Church.
