Description
The turnings are made from native hardwoods from the Monadnock region of New Hampshire or from imported hardwoods from around the world.
Hardwood species are abundant in the Monadnock region. The Monadnock region is home of apple, white and black ash; quaking and trembling aspen; beech; black, white and yellow birch; butternut; black cherry; elm; hickory; red and sugar maple; and white and red oak.
While all of these woods have natural beauty, many turnings feature the special “figure” associated with naturally occurring burls, stains, spalting, bird’s eyes, curl, and edges. (See the Wood Figure page)
