The Philip T. Chancholo Memorial Golf Tournament is held annually to benefit the United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 791 Scholarship Fund. For over twenty years, Local 791 has awarded annual scholarships to a countless number of our members and/or their children to assist in their goal of achieving a higher education. The scholarship recipients live and work in communities throughout New England. Every dollar raised at this tournament goes directly into the scholarship fund of Local 791.
This tournament is named in memory of former Local 791 Business Agent Philip Chancholo, a long time union member and employee of Shaw’s Supermarkets who sadly passed away in 2000. Phil was a dedicated trade unionist who went above and beyond the call of duty in representing members of our union.
Our sincere thanks go out to everyone who has supported our event in the past and for those who will support us in the future. We wouldn’t have a successful scholarship program without the generous ongoing support of those who participate in our golf tournament.
