UGlassIt.com Pool resurfacing for the do-it-yourself (DIY) enthusiast
"The UGlassIt System" - From Concept to Reality
Resurfacing a pool can be a daunting, timely, and costly task. But it doesn't have to be. Now the everyday backyard pool can be restored to its new condition in just a few days time at relatively little cost. With its trademark Fibre-Shelkote resin, UGlassIt took the initiative in redefining the manufacturing of swimming pool and hot tub resurfacing materials. The UGlassIt DIY Pool Restoration System is best suited for both residential and smaller commercial swimming pools but can be adapted to suit any size pool; however, the larger commercial pools require professional UGlassIt authorized Installation Specialists due to the manpower, and the skills required for the task. Make your pool new and algae free with UGlassIt!
History of the Company
UGlassIt started off as a small company but in 2002, with a staff of two super employees, they shifted to larger headquarters in Collingswood, NJ. Then two new folks were added to the staff. At that time, the business was internet based, but the success of the company was not possible without Fibre-Shelkote II Vinyl Ester Resin formulated only for swimming pools and hot tubs, and properly formulated swimming pool gelcoat. With the passage of time UGlassIt became the only distributor for Fibre-Shelkote pool resurfacing products in the North America and Caribbean regions.
About the Products
UGlassIt uses three different materials when resurfacing:
- Fibre-Shelkote II Vinyl Ester Resin - formulated only for swimming pools and hot tubs
- Properly formulated swimming pool gelcoat.
- Fiberglass - which has to be modified for the different specifications of each client.
Fibre-Shelkote II is much better than the original Fibre-Shelkote Vinyl Ester Resin, and is manufactured specifically for older swimming pools, spas, and hot tubs, all of which must be resurfaced indoors or outdoors under various climatic conditions. The new (2006) resin product VE8137 has an elongated molecular structure which gives extension to the the gel-time. Long lasting application mandates that the resins and gelcoat must be applied. Solid sheets of fiberglass must be layered between the resin, and must be finished with gelcoat. Read more here.

The pool wall temperature must be between 60 and 95 degrees while the resin and gelcoat are being rolled on. Also, the work should not be attempted if there is a chance of rain within an hour. The resin and gelcoat dry quickly but if it rains before that, the wet area will have gray spots. It is very important for indoor pools that the pool surface be at least 60°.
