We have created this Web Site to provide both our membership and the general public with the most efficient and modern access to information regarding our union. It tells you who we are, how we operate, your rights and responsibilities as a member, and the services that your dues dollars help provide.
Members of Local 400 are an important part of a democratic organization, one with a very important goal: to help workers obtain and hold onto better paychecks, job security, decent fringe benefits and justice on the job. Local 400 attains these goals through the support, unity, and involvement of members, just like you; and through community and political involvement.
As a union member your interests on the job are protected by your specially trained union steward, by Local 400's highly experienced staff representatives, by our team of skilled lawyers, and other specialists. Additionally, the union brings a wealth of experience to the negotiating table, producing some of the best labor contracts in the country for our membership. It's important that you understand how Local 400 operates--after all, the wages and benefits set forth in the contract bargained with your employer have a lot to do with the way you live.
