About Our Duvets
Years ago at the young age of 16 I traveled with my parents to my father's homeland of Germany. There I discovered the "feather comforter", or as I came to know them, "duvets". I had never seen anything like it before. So after buying one from Germany, I had an idea for a business: why not buy a bag of down, a bolt of fabric and start producing duvets in Canada, which were not readily available at that time?
So for many years now, I've been manufacturing on a very small scale, duvets and pillows. The very first one I took to a craft show, set it on a table, and put a price list beside it. The down was a standard down as was the ticking. I've progressed to where I now produce a duvet with some of the world's finest down, and high quality German ticking, along with a superior box-baffle design.
Basically what determines the best down is the age of the bird the down comes from. An immature bird will produce small down clusters that do not have the ability to last. A mature bird that lives in a cold climate will produce a fuller, larger, much more durable down. A large duck will produce better down than a small goose .
