Union Square Enterprises derived its name from the Union Square Metro Stop in New York, U.S.A. where Jose Leo P. Caparas, company owner and general manager, worked as a store manager.
The company's logo, three layers of blue squares, stands for fair and square dealings as well as strength, beauty, style, harmony, comfort and elegance.
Mr. Caparas started out as a farmer but eventually turned to be one of the pillars of the country's furniture industry. He had three reasons why he opted to stay in the Philippines despite a successful career in the U.S.; to create employment, to help in the dollars flow of the country and to showcase Filipino craftmanship abroad.
