Allow me to introduce myself edit
My name is Julie, but my friends call me Jules. I have been crocheting afghans for almost 30 years. Some come from patterns. Some just . . . appear . . . out of the yarn.

Learning to Crochet edit
I was born and raised in a small Colorado town, in the mid-1950s. One summer ~ probably to keep me out of her raspberries ~ Grandma tried to teach me how to crochet. (The skinned knees and elbows ~ and broken nose ~ should have been a clue that I had zero coordination!) She made the most beautiful afghans and doilies; while I tangled yarn and thread.

Life In Arizona edit
Today, I live in Arizona with a wonderful man. (Yes! He's the 'Mark' in JMark Afghans, etc.) Love the winters!! Still getting used to 120 degree summers - whew, that's hot!!
Mark was diagnosed with End-Stage Liver Disease in 2003. Over the next several months, we spent hours in emergency rooms and, often, days at the hospital. (Luckily, crocheting travels anywhere!)
Shortly after Mark's transplant in 2004, his two youngest sons moved in with us. (Well, it was a roomy one-bedroom apartment!) I'm still trying to decide if having teen-agers in the house keeps you young or ages you tenfold. After almost 3 years, I've determined that teenagers are the root cause of all grey hair!! (Pun intended!)

What I Do edit
JMark Afghans, etc. edit
Since 2005, I have been sharing my afghan designs through my on-line business and just loving it. It's been a labor of mostly love ~ learning HTML and making the pages work was far more of a challenge than I realized going in. Much easier to crochet afghans!
So far, I have 10 designs, 6 sizes, and over 40 different yarn colors to choose from. Recently, I started crocheting placemats and coasters, scarves, hats, and shawls. The images, options, and prices are now set up and ready to order.
Feel free to stop by! I just know you'll love Our Afghans and the new etc. in JMark Afghans, etc!
The Open Directory Project edit
While researching information about ADHD, I found this amazing directory and, in 2005, became a volunteer editor.
For an organizational junkie like me, it is the perfect way to use my energy. I work mostly in health-related categories and really love being able to find and list a website that offers information to help people.
Naturally, I also love working in Food. Just can't do it on an empty stomach ~ I end up wanting to buy everything!
Come by . . . DMOZ can always use more help.
MySpace.com edit
Not one to miss an opportunity to meet people, I had to create a MySpace page.
Over the past few weeks, I have been having a blast 'collecting' friends, showing off my afghans and Zazzle products, and participating in many very worthwhile causes.
My profile lists most of my real-life and Internet friends, fellow entrepreneurs, and the different causes in which I'm interested. But, my eclectic nature means I've also 'met' actors and actresses, rock musicians, game show hosts, country and western bands, and pop stars. It's all just too much fun!

Zazzle.com edit
This is one of my newest on-line projects, creating items on Zazzle. I even won "Today's Best".
Over time, we have collected some beautiful pictures from around Arizona that I added to postcards, greeting cards, mousepads, and even postage stamps.
Of course, I couldn't forget our cat, Paka, so he's on mugs, stamps, and some really cute magnets.

Squidoo.com edit
Travelling around the Internet as much as I do, I'm always running across really interesting sites.
One of my favorite things about Squidoo is that so many of the lenses (webpages) support important causes and charities. My lens showcases some of the items I've designed, complimentary gifts, and supports the Genocide Intervention Network~ a cause that's very important to me.
