About Leah Elise Curry, MBA Business Management edit

My Very Informal Autobiography and Small Business Consultant Resume

I was born July 24, 1962 in Waco, TX. My family traveled extensively because my father was in the military. I know I lived in Waco for at least a year because my brother, Milton Jr. was born in Waco exactly one year and two weeks later. I have no memory of my early year’s just pictures.

I lived in Tokyo, Japan from the age of five until ten and one half. What I remember from that experience is being apart to the culture, how to count to ten, origami, Japanese cuisine and simple pleasantries, i.e. hello, and goodbye.

At the age of ten and one half we moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. I was told that I cried for one week because I missed Japan so much. My memories of New Mexico are being introduced to thirty one flavors of ice cream (Baskin Robbins), McDonalds, and Saturday morning cartoons in English. There was no such thing as Satellite TV in the sixties and seventies.

I was eleven going on twelve when my father received orders for Spangdahlem, Germany. I remember the countryside because it was beautiful especially in the fall. We traveled as often as possible to places like Luxembourg and France. Italy was my senior trip that I took with my Bitburg American High School peers prior to graduation. My first job experience was the summer prior to graduation we were painting lines for a parking lot, and building a sidewalk on Spangdahlem Air Force Base.

After graduating in 1980 I returned to the U.S. to begin College. I worked Temp jobs when I needed extra cash. In 1984 I received my undergraduate degree in Management/Accounting from Park College. I began my career working at a Credit Union as a Teller, then a lateral move to Loan Processor after a few weeks. I did not stay there long because I had other inspirations in mind; I was young and seeking where I fit in life.

I spent the next seven years not really following a plan. I worked as a part-time retail clerk for a year or so. I was promoted into a management position and gradually moving up the chain. My career seemed to be set; that is until I realized that I did not want this particular career path.

It was not until I started working for Motorola as a Financial Analyst that I realized that I should have stayed in school. I made the decision to return to school part-time and eventually earned my MBA in Business Management in 2003. I believe that everything in my past experiences, personal and business, has prepared me for what I am doing now.

Currently I am a sole proprietor and my DBA is Business Advisors "a consulting company", http://www.4bizadvisor.com. I am a Business Plan, Marketing Plan, and Request for Proposal Consultant to Small Business owners, Start-Ups and Entrepreneurs.

What I Dislike The Most Besides Spammers edit

I dislike writing about myself. I have been shy around groups of people most of my adult life. I have always been the one who works extra hard in the background because I never wanted to be the one who did the talking. My voice has always been heard, but for a long time I was not the one who was speaking it.

Yet I have held management positions during my career and have received excellent employee reviews throughout my business career. The reason is because I have determination, a great work ethic, and the ability to work one on one to get things done. This is the reason that what I am doing now, helping the Small Business owner as their professional Business Consultant is an excellent fit for me.

What I Like The Most edit

I like to travel which is something that I have not been able to do in a long time and I miss it. I want to go new places and meet new people. I have always loved to travel.

As I was growing up I did not realize that most people rarely have the opportunity to travel to different countries and experience new cultures. As an adult I realize that I did not appreciate my good fortune because I thought everybody moved around which is true in the military community, but not in the civilian community. I have been a member of the civilian community for a long time and counting.

My Profile Photo Gallery edit

The following are the pictures for my various profile pages. I have used Cartoonizer, Charcola and Warholizer, BeFunky.com, on a few pictures. I created them and I am sharing them with you because I had fun utilizing the website. My friends and family have very few photos of me because I rarely allow them to take photos. I do not consider myself to be photogenic.
