edit articles with www

Benny,

I see you've been deleting pages starting with www in the title. What I generally do it simply redirect them. The reason I do this is that someone must have searched for them at some point, and our system doesn't seem to automatically redirect them anymore (I think it did as one point). So for example, I redirect www.ninalazina.com to NinaLazina.com. What do you think?

That's great that it's working now. I still think it's not a good idea to delete those pages, in case it stops working at some point in the future, or in case someone makes a link to the www version. Just redirect it to the right one, methinks. What do you think?
I think maybe I need to be more clear. I think it's a bad idea to delete the www version. I think the redirects should be there. What happens if you click this red link now? www.ninalazina.com - I think a redirect is more elegant, causing users to get what they would expect. I see no benefit to deleting the redirects. Yes, they are often duplicate content. That is exactly the situation where I replace the entire page with a redirect. I proposed to dev a solution long ago, with no action. I think they are probably busy enough that this will not make their list. But we can make things easier for users by turning those extra pages into redirects. Sorry I wasn't clear earlier!

All 5 of them are okay. The first 4 are very strange. They kept showing up in our high traffic pages for some reason, so we put the video on them and can just leave them alone. Unless you can think of better content to put on them. I'd love to hear ideas.

The ChicagoCoop one is mine. It's part of an experiment of sorts. I've been trying for a long time to migrate the entire chicagocoop.net wiki here, because I cannot keep up with the spam. I haven't had the energy to to get it done.

Benny,

I think we're in an interesting place with regards to categories. Are you going to be at the stakeholders meeting today? Ray is going to talk about "tags front and center" which will be a new way of looking at categories. I think the idea would be that tags will be easy to edit, similar to how categories are on English Wikipedia now, and that they will be distinct (different from Wikipedia). What I mean is Category:Real Estate in Tuscany would NOT be used. Instead, we would use Category:Real Estate and Category:Tuscany and our search would allow you to search by multiple tags. For example, if you searched for "Real Estate", the result would be 80,000+ articles and you would see a message: "refine your search? add another tag" and you could then put "Tuscany" to get all the pages that appear in both.

What do you think?

Hi Benny,

The links to domain tools, builtwith and compete doen't seem to make sense in subdomains, and there seems to be no way to have a logo with this template. Also, the Add Subdomain template shows people how to have the different sections of the page and we seem to be losing that with {{SD}}. One other thought, using a full name for a template makes it easier for people to learn have it is and how to use it. Like {{SubDomainPage}} or something like that. What do you think?
