edit Let's talk briefly

IRC, skype or email :-)

This is awesome Template:CategoryTOC - can you explain it a little more in the template? Best, MarkDilley

edit Re:Let's talk briefly

Probably IRC, but if not, Email. :)

Thanks! I'll try my best to write an accurate description (I have writer's block for even the smallest, simplest things, such as definitions).

edit Coming to LA

Vartan,

I'm planning on being in Los Angeles Oct 28th through Nov 1st for the ICANN meeting. If you have time, I'd love to say hello to you and your folks - Ray | talk

edit Re:Coming to LA

I'd love to go, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to. I have a lot of work and my parents are usually very stressed out.

However, if I can, I'll try my best to come.

I was thinking that I could meet you somewhere near your home? - Ray | talk

edit Re:

I think that'd be great, but I do live in Irvine (Southern California)! :D If you would be able to come, though, I'll talk with my mom.

edit Yeay!

Mom said that after a day at the conference, if you would be able to stop by for dinner, that would be fine.

Please e-mail me your address () and I'll confirm the day as soon as I can - Ray | talk

edit Wikipedia Subdomains

Vartan, I saw your redirects. What do you think of this? http://www.aboutus.org/index.php?title=ja.Wikipedia.org&action=history I hope it's okay because I'm about to do that to all of them at that I can find. If you're around now, jump on IRC to let me know your thoughts? TedErnst | talk 11:09, 16 October 2007 (PDT)

edit Re: Wikipedia Subdomains

That's a great idea - I was thinking of it, too. I wish the pages in other languages were as full as the English page (though they might be - I can't read Japanese :P )

edit Category:Welcome to AboutUs!

Kasey came up with a great idea that I'm in love with for tracking new people that are welcomed as opposed to the old Welcoming People Log page. Essentially by month every new user welcome gets a category like Category:2007-10 Welcome to AboutUs! so they can easily be tracked and sorted by year/month on Category:Welcome to AboutUs!. So you can see that I just added this to my deal-y at User:KristinaWeis/Welcome3 and if you could do the same to whatever you use and hopefully remember to change it on the first of the month. And if you would like to add a category like this to your talk page with the month you joined/were welcomed, it can double as a badge of honor of when everyone joined. Cheers, KristinaWeis | **talk** 12:29, 16 October 2007 (PDT)

edit Re:Category:Welcome to AboutUs!

Really, really interesting! And it really is a great idea (hats off to Kasey). That way no one has to waste half an hour of their life finding and typing tons of people's names. :P

edit IRC question for you

Vartan, I know you learned a bunch about IRC over the weekend when we were on together, and I'm wondering if you're interested in find the answer to a question for me. How do we change the name or description text for an IRC channel? How do we get ChanServ to deal with a channel? How do we assert ownership over a channel so we can get ChanServ to give a proper welcome? Too much? No worries. Not urgent. Just wondering if it would make you curious. Thanks much! peace, TedErnst | talk 16:32, 16 October 2007 (PDT)

edit Re: IRC question for you

I'm not exactly sure what you meant by letting ChanServ deal with the channel. Could you please elaborate? :)

I don't know exactly what I mean, unfortunately.
  • DESC command - change Channel Description, i.e. /msg ChanServ SET #dragon DESC the dragon channel
I tried this
TedErnst: SET #aboutuscommunity DESC AboutUsCommunity
and got this:
ChanServ: An access level of [25] is required for [SET] on #aboutuscommunity
  • Ownership (Is this what you meant?): SET FOUNDER - set founder of channel, i.e. /msg ChanServ SET #sadgirl FOUNDER sadgirl
I tried this
TedErnst: SET #aboutuscommunity FOUNDER TedErnst
and got this
ChanServ: An access level of [25] is required for [SET] on #aboutuscommunity
Any ideas? TedErnst | talk 22:22, 16 October 2007 (PDT)
Suggestion: ACCESS command. Use the access command to find out what access level you or another user have to a registered channel. The following values can be returned by ChanServ:
  • 6 - Identified as founder of the channel
  • 5 - Identified to the founders nick
  • 4 - Matches channel founder access list
  • 3 - Channel SOp
  • 2 - Channel AOp
  • 1 - Normal user
  • -1 - AKICK'ed user
