- B orn 24th July 1958 in an illustrious family of Bangalore, India. Father S Venkat Ram [late] was a veteran socialist, trade union leader and writer. Three of his books have been published and one of which “Pradakshine” a travelogue in Kannada won the prestigious Karnataka Saahitya Academy Award. He was one of the important Karnataka leaders to be imprisoned during 1975 - 1977, the dark days of emergency. He also represented India at ILO, Geneva during 1979. His death in 1981 was a serious personal setback for me. However, he continues to be my sole guiding spirit.
