Wall Street Institute was established in 1972 to address the huge potential of the industry of English language instruction and the unique requirements of those focused on English language learning for professional and personal reasons.

First started in Italy, Wall Street Institute quickly expanded its English language learning centers to Switzerland and then Spain, where in 1990, the international headquarters was established. In 1997, Wall Street Institute was purchased by Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc. In February 2005, Wall Street Institute was acquired by a global private equity firm The Carlyle Group. Wall Street Institute is now headquartered in the United States.

Our ability to provide an effective and competitive solution for English language instruction is reflected in our growth over the past 9 years. We have grown from 102 centers in 8 countries and regions in 1995 to over 350 centers in 26 countries and regions today. That means we provide English language learning to over 140,000 students every year.
