Description
During the sixties, Gary devoted much of his spare time to minor sports, both hockey and baseball, taking on leadership roles. Recognizing the need for community volunteers, he took an active role in fundraising for a community swimming pool in Cobourg. When a call went out to restore Cobourg's stately Victoria Hall, Gary became part of the fundraising team, seeing the project through to completion.
Starting the area's premiere disc jockey business in the seventies, Gary Warner built it up, employing students attending university and college, allowing them to earn money o assist them in their education.
Interested in giving to his community, Gary joined the Cobourg Kinsmen Club, putting in countless hours as chair and as member of various committees to raise funds for worthwhile local causes and for the club's national project, the Cystic Fibrosis Society. Not only did he serve in every executive capacity, he went on to hold office as district deputy governor, vice governor, and governor, which automatically made him a member of the national board of directors. During these years in office, Gary received awards for outstanding leadership and was made a life member of the club.
