Description
Founded over 24 years ago, WASRG in year 2005 serves both a vital and critical function for the state government affairs professional. The raison d’être of WASRG is to provide educational and networking opportunities for busy professionals who work in the state government affairs arena as lobbyists, association staff, government affairs executives, government officials and vendor/services representatives.
WASRG’s signature activity is its monthly luncheon at the National Press Club where 75-100 WASRGites convene to exchange ideas, discuss issues and trade the latest tidbit from the states. Our guest speaker -- primarily policymakers or public officials with a connection to the states - presents his or her perspective on topical and political issues of interest to our members. Other WASRG-sponsored programs include our annual state government affairs symposium held in the early fall and issue briefings scheduled throughout the year.
Communications is an important aspect of the WASRG experience, and we have instituted a quarterly newsletter and a WASRG website (www.wasrg.com) to enhance our members’ knowledge of the marketplace in which we operate. Plus, WASRG hosts a not-to-be-missed reception typically held during the holidays providing yet another valuable networking forum.
