Description
Many of the old London docks were filled in during the1970s but part of the old Canada Dock survived and is now known as Canada Water.
Waterside View lies at the heart of the Canada Water area and the site, purchased by Conrad Phoenix in 2002, covers approximately 1.9 hectares (5 acres). It is bounded to the east by the Surrey Quays Road, to the north by the Albion Channel, to the south by Surrey Quays Shopping Centre service yard and to the west by the Canada Water basin and adjacent public footpath. It is currently occupied by two single storey retail warehouses, which house the sports goods retailer Decathlon and a large area of surface parking.
The name Waterside View has been chosen for the proposed development to reflect the site’s prominent location and the attractive backdrop of Canada Water. The development would include a range of special features to extend, enhance and protect the ecology and wildlife around the basin.
