There are many places online where you can find negative reviews and attacks on various Host Industry companies, but you won't find that here. We have always tried to treat everyone with respect and as friend in the industry. You won't find us flaming people in the industry. We try to provide positive information that will help you find the best Web Hosting services.

Our History

Our founder, Ron Dunlap, came from a successful career in the PC industry that began in the 70's where he staffed and managed technical and test engineering departments as well as directed product management groups for PC peripheral companies. He left the industry in 1993 as director of Marketing for Diamond Multimedia and began consulting full time. Almost immediately, his clients wanted him to help them put their companies on the Internet. That led Ron to begin evaluating Web Hosting companies long before there were any Host Finder sites online. He compiled lists that included the pricing, features and benefits of Hosting companies, along with their support speed and competence, and included an unbiased critique of each company so developers and companies he worked with would be able to choose the best Hosting solutions for their needs.

Less than 2 years later, while still evaluating Web Hosts for his clients, Ron filled his spare time as a volunteer member of the independent review staff for the Internet's first Web Host directory, The Ultimate Web Host List. The review panel studied and reviewed hundreds of Web Host companies and with the help of an independent test lab, Ron used his valuable Host evaluation experience to develop a set of review criteria to evaluate Web Hosts using a given set of weighted criteria and testing methods to reduce subjectivity to a minimum. Each week, Ron posted his review findings online at a site he created in 1997 called Web Host Weekly.

After his work with The Ultimate Web Host List, Ron's experience and reputation in the industry was sought to help new startup companies get their bearings, including Top Hosts (www.TopHosts.com), Web Host Directory (www.WebHostDir.com), Burlee Networks (www.Burlee.com) and others. Ron remains someone that many Host directories and Web Hosts consult for advice and information.

In 1999, Ron formed WebHostMagazine.com out of Web Host Weekly to provide a different approach to traditional Web Host industry information sites. Unlike other Web Host directories that listed their monthly "Top 10" Web Hosts based on popularity or advertising revenue, WebHostMagazine.com has always displayed its review testing criteria as well as how we conduct our reviews right up front so everyone could see how we did it along with being totally transparent about who our advertisers were on our reviews. Another important feature that WebHostMagazine.com did was to add a working Advertiser Guarantee that actually protected visitors to our site that bought Web Host services through our advertisers. Ron wanted WebHostMagazine.com to provide fair and objective Web Host reviews that could be trusted.

Over the past decade Ron has built a reliable and experienced staff of knowledgeable and hard working individuals that have deep roots in the Internet and all of us are dedicated to bringing you the best information on Web Hosting we can find. While other sites may have copied our basic review style and advertiser guarantee, the one thing they can't copy is our experience, reputation, and dedication to the Web Hosting industry.
