West Vancouver Montessori School
Description
The Independent School Society of West Vancouver is a non-profit society formed with the express purpose of providing children with an education based on the Montessori philosophy for Preschool and Kindergarten. This philosophy is consistently applied in both the Montessori and Early Childhood Education classrooms. The Independent School Society of West Vancouver is the sole vehicle for carrying out the Society's purpose. The Society's Constitution outlines the purpose and by-laws in detail. If a parent wishes to examine the full document, a copy will be made available upon request to the Secretary of the Board. The following excerpts from the Constitution are worthy of particular note for all parents:
Membership in the Society is automatically conferred upon each parent who has a child enrolled in either the current or next school year. Special, non-voting membership in the Society may be offered by the Board to those not otherwise eligible for membership in the Society in order to obtain necessary assistance in operating the school. Such membership will terminate at the end of the school year in which the special membership begins.
When a child leaves the school, whether after completing the program or through voluntary or involuntary withdrawal before program completion, that child's parents' membership in the Society ceases immediately unless the parents remain eligible through having another child still in attendance at the school.
