- We aim to be a multilingual, Web-based, free content Philippine encyclopedia. Wikipiniana, currently known also as WikiPilipinas.org is written collaboratively by Philippine volunteers from all around the world in order to built the largest Philippine knowledge database. Believing in an open and participative content development, Wikipiniana also strives to be the leading source of contents on the Philippines and can be enjoyed and used by anyone who loves the Philippines worldwide. Its articles can also be edited by anyone with access to the Internet, simply by clicking the edit this page link. The name Wikipiniana is a portmanteau of the words wiki (a type of collaborative website) and Filipiniana a term that refers to any textual material about the Philippines. The project was conceptualized last year in connection with the requirement of Filipiniana.net for a more voluntary contents of its giant knowledge base on Philippine studies. Filipiniana and Wikipiniana will grow into the largest Philippine reference websites on the Internet.
