Description

Wikinfo (Internet Encyclopedia), founded in July 2003, by Fred Bauder as a "fork" of Wikipedia with different editorial policies, is a wiki encyclopedia database, running on GetWiki collaboration software and hosted by ibiblio. Wikis are special collections and discussion forums where anyone can read and edit the entries. Wikinfo can be used to obtain knowledge by anyone, and just as importantly, used to share knowledge with anyone, because it is a free encyclopedia written collaboratively by its readers and editors. We strive to provide a space where encyclopedic articles and essays can be written from a sympathetic point of view, among others. Wikinfo began as a project in English, but has since welcomed new contributions in German and French, and is open to articles in any language.

Creativity and diversity is strongly encouraged in our articles. This means we do not encourage the capricious generation of factoids, but the deeper connections and discussion of new patterns revealed to us by other knowledge. This is one of the major reasons Wikinfo is here, to acknowledge that patterns are infinite, connections diverse, and that not all truths have been noted or named elsewhere. To this aim, we also encourage signed articles, protection for creative articles which might otherwise be "mercilessly" edited.

Unless used with permission of the copyright holder under the terms set forth in the article or licensed under a version of the Creative Commons, or some other Open Source License, all text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License. Images, some of which are used under the doctrine of Fair use or used with permission, may not be available.
