Description

As we quickly approach our Fifteenth year, we have had the chance to reevaluate our mission and have decided to refocus our efforts on our Mentoring Core, which is how/why Wordcraft was initially formed. When the site is fully functional, members will have the ability to directly connect as a mentor to those who are in need. In the meantime, if you would like to serve as a mentor with Wordcraft Circle, please contact Lee Francis IV, National Director, at nativerealities@comcast.net. Below is some more information about Wordcraft Circle.

In October 1992, Indigenous writers and storytellers who attended the first Returning The Gift (RTG) Festival at Norman, Oklahoma in July, were invited to participate in Wordcraft Circle. The following November (1993), Wordcraft Circle was incorporated as a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization.

Fourteen years later (December 2005), there are now participants from 40 states, 3 Canadian Provinces and 2 countries representing more than 135 sovereign Indigenous Native nations/tribes. From the Atlantic coast to the Pacific and from Alaska and Hawai'i to Central America, there are beginning, emerging, and established Native and non-Native storytellers and writers ranging in age from 18 to 82 actively participating in Wordcraft Circle.
