I have lived in New York City, the culinary capital of the U.S. for the past eight years, but will embark on a new adventure in the fall of 2004, when I move to China. Officially, I will be teaching English, but unofficially, I will be eating anything and everything I can try over there -- and blogging about it.

Why do I write about food? I have no ambitions to be a food writer, or even a "known food blogger." Mainly I blog because I love food, and food moves me to write.

Though I can appreciate fine dining (I count among my most favorite meals ever an evening at La Grenoiulle), and the foodie hotspots old and new (I loved Union Square Cafe, Craft and Jewel Bako), I am just as happy trolling one of New York's many neighborhood in search of a tasty bite. My favorite neighborhoods for this include Bensonhurst, Brooklyn for Italian, Jackson Heights, Queens for Indian, and downtown Brooklyn (Atlantic Ave) for Middle Eastern. Now that I have conquered a good portion of New York, I am ready for a new continent!
