- THE XAVERIAN BROTHERS
- The Xaverian Brothers were founded by Theodore James Ryken in 1839 in Bruges, Belgium. On August 16, 1854, a small group of Xaverians opened two schools in Louisville, Kentucky. Today, Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools can be found in Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts and New York as well as in Middletown, CT. The Brothers also work in various apostolates in California, Florida, South Carolina, Virginia and South Dakota. Xaverian foreign missionary work continues in Bolivia, Haiti, Kenya, Uganda, Lithuania and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
